Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Projects to Assist in Transition from Homelessness (PATH), provides an enhanced level of support for persons with mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with consumers who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA’s mission, policies and procedures.
Requirements: Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required. One year of experience interacting with persons with emotional impairments required. Applicants must have experienced a significant disruption in their lives from the onset of a severe mental illness, have received public mental health services currently or in the past for the mental illness (preferably with Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties) and are now in recovery. Must obtain Peer Support Specialist certification within one year of hire through the mandatory MDCH Peer Support Specialist certification program. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both orally and in writing is required. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to communicate their personal story such that they can be a strong advocate, instill hope, and diminish the stigma for others in recovery through the interview process. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.
Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Salary/Hours:: $14.92 - $16.16 per hour. 20 hours per week Monday – Friday.
Location: Adult Mental Health Services/PATH, Lansing Michigan.
